For this ACE project, we were supposed to visit a place pertaining to ecology and nature, and write a reflection on our takeaways and experiences. I decided to visit the botanical gardens with my classmate, as it was really close to the school!
I won't post the entire reflection here since its too long!
Here are some of the photos that we took!
ACE PROJECT 2 Softball pitching physics
Sports science, its something I've always wanted to try out, and why not study the sport that I'm most familiar with? Softball! I did do some extensive research by other professionals on softball pitching, but due to my lack of knowledge and unfamiliarity with all the terms that were used, I thought i would do a scaled down, super simplified version that was easy to understand, all from what I've been taught by my coach.
Because this is on a website, I can easily post videos, so here are some videos of other pitchers, doing what they do best! Its easier to visualize than the printed copy of my ACE that I handed up.
And these are some photos of my friend and I pitching during our competition this year :) One of them is of an RI guy!
ACE PROJECT 1 - 2011 Water Tension
This was an ACE project that I did last year, on water tension. It is a simple experiment that almost anyone can do, without any difficulty. Basically, you use any thing you can find, like a straw as seen in the video, to slowly drip water onto a coin, preferably a 50cent one because of its size. As you drip, you will see that the water does not spill out when it overflows, but will rather stay in a spherical shape above the coin, this is because of water tension holding the water together. Just watch and see!
